Bernard Howard Coon was born Oct. 5, 1922 to Herbert H. and Anna Martha Woodring Coon. He died June 21, 1944 and is buried in Hamburg Cemetery, Hamburg, IA.
Pvt. Coon served in World War II with the U.S. Army 81st Armored Regiment, 48th Tank Battalion and died at Fort Campbell, KY while in the service of his country when the half-track in which he was riding was struck by a shell fired by a tank.
