Pfc. Richard Conerd arrived Tuesday to spend a 10-day furlough at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl E. Conerd, Maywood addition, Route 5. He has been stationed at Camp Claiborne, La., since his enlistment last December. Prior to that time he was employed as a machinist by the Associated Manufacturers.

Find-A-Grave website states he enlisted in the Army on 12/12/1942 and served in the European Theater under General George S. Patton with the 103rd Infantry Division. He died 08/26/2011 and is buried at Garden of Memories in Waterloo.
