HOME ON FURLOUGH
Cpl. Virgil J. H. Coleman, son of Mr. and Mrs. N. H. Coleman of this city, is home on a 30-day furlough from army duty in Italy, after nearly two years of overseas service.
The Webster City serviceman has three brothers and three brothers-in-law in service. They include: George W. Coleman, QM 1/c, who is now at Norfolk, Va., after a year’s duty in the Pacific; Norval Coleman, MoMM1/c, serving aboard a ship in the Pacific; Pvt. Myrrl Coleman, located at Ft. Snelling, Minn., now after reporting for induction a week ago; Pfc. George Eberhart, reportedly on his way home after being released from a nazi prison camp in which he was held prisoner for nine months; and Donald Yancy, serving with the merchant marine.

Obituary: Norval Coleman, 80, Webster City
Norval (Chub) Coleman, 80, Webster City, died Tuesday, May 13, 1997 at his home. Mr. Coleman was cremated and a private graveside service will be held at a later date. Foster Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
Norval Clay Coleman, son of Howard and Edna (Scheetz) Coleman, received his education at Blairsburg and Dows. He served with the U.S. Navy from 1941 to 1945 in the Pacific Theatre. On Dec. 27, 1948, he married Helen Denton at Webster City. He was a heavy equipment operating engineer in construction. The couple resided in Payette, Idaho, for 14 years, where he retired. They had also resided in Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota and Minnesota. They moved to Webster City in 1990.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; brothers, Virgil (Joe) Coleman, Webster City, Myrll Coleman, Kamrar, and Richard Coleman, Riverview, Fla; sisters, Mary Trampel, Webster City, Avon Hicks, and Margie Lamfers, both of Adelanto, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, George Coleman; and a sister, Betty Coleman.
Mr. Coleman was a member of the First Baptist Church of Payette, Idaho, and a Local #12 Union member for 49 years.

Daughter Margie Coleman married Albert Wayne Lamfers, U.S. Navy veteran who served in the Pacific aboard the USS Drum (SS-228).
