2 Sons, Son-In-Law Serving with First Army in Belgium
Two sons and a son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Hauptfleisch, 3327 Jones Street, are all with the First Army somewhere in Belgium. Mr. Hauptfleisch is formerly of Springfield, Illinois.
Capt. Louis A. Hauptfleisch, oldest of the two sons, has been overseas for nearly two years and has been in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, England, France and Belgium. He is with the 82nd airborne division and was awarded the Purple Heart and the bronze star medal for injuries and meritorious service in the Holland campaign.
Pfc. Richard E. Hauptfleisch, the other son, is with the infantry and has been overseas since October, 1944. He has been in England, Belgium, Germany and then back to Belgium. He wears the good conduct ribbon and the expert infantryman’s badge.
The son-in-law, Capt. David I. Coldwell, husband of the former Esther Hauptfleisch, is with the Ninth Air Force somewhere in Belgium. He has been overseas a year and is group adjutant at head-quarters. His P-38 squadron recently received the unit citation.
