Leonard Coffman, age 86, died Sunday, January 30, 2011 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown where he had resided the past nine years. Graveside services were held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at the Mount Olive Cemetery in Randall, Iowa. Becker Funeral and Cremation Service of Jewell is entrusted with Leonard and his family.
Leonard Larry Coffman was born November 11, 1924 in LaFayette Township near Story City, Iowa to Larry and Grace (Denekas) Coffman.
Following high school graduation, Leonard served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On January 17, 1947 Leonard married Wilma Maxine Duden in Story City, Iowa. They farmed in the Story City area for 35 years. Leonard was a member of Elim Lutheran Church in Randall.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Wilma of Flora, Indiana; daughters, Sandra Lynn Cinkle of Mason City and Gloria Jean Sharer of Flora, Indiana; a daughter-in-law, Anne Coffman of Story City; grandchildren, Jodi Mock, Lisa (Jason) Thorn, Jason (Kim) Mock, Lori (Guy) Johnston, Wendy Sharer, Leanne (Kalen) Leweis, Shelly (Travis) Becht, and Brett (Ashley) Coffman; great grandchildren, Justin and Braeden Thorn, Kelsey Johnston, Evan and Carter Lewis, Lily and Sophia Becht; and sisters Helen Thompson of Story City and Erma Armburg of Nevada, Iowa.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents and son, Dennis Lee Coffman.
