George Howard Clarke was born Oct. 20, 1916 to John Lister and Ruth Hauser Clarke. He died Nov. 28, 1943 and is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, England and has a cenotaph in Benson Cemetery, Grundy County, IA.
Lt. Clarke served in World War II with the U.S. Army 1st Arctic Rescue Squadron and died in Sukkertoppen, Greenland while in the service of his country.
