James Eugene “Gene” Chesley was born Oct. 12, 1918 to William Francis and Alta Marie Lange Chesley. He died Jan. 21, 1943 and is buried in North Lawn Cemetery, Spencer, IA.
Pvt. Chesley served in World War II with the U.S. Army 133rd Infantry, 34th Infantry Division and died in the service of his country while on patrol duty in Africa.
