Funeral for Lloyd Carter
Word was received here by the I. M. Bowen family through Mrs. Frank Ketcham, an aunt of the deceased, that the body of Lloyd Carter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Carter of Leon, Iowa, is being brought back from overseas for burial. Funeral services are to be held at Leon at the F. S. Stewart and Son Funeral home at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22.

NOTE: S/Sgt. Carter was serving with the U.S. Army in the 515th Bomb Squadron of the 376th Bomb Group overseas during World War II. He died on February 23, 1944. Interment was made at Leon Cemetery.

Leon Lloyd Carter was born May 11, 1924 to Leon A. and Edna E. McDaniel Carter. He died Feb. 23, 1944 and is buried in the Leon Cemetery, Leon, IA.
Sgt. Carter served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 376th Bomb Group, 515th Bomb Squadron and was KIA when his plane was shot down over Austria.
