Arthur Carlson was born Oct. 27, 1917 to Carl August and Susanna ‘Anna’ Anderson Carlson. He died Dec. 11, 1994 and is buried in Lawn Hill Cemetery, Stanhope, IA.

Pvt. Carlson served with the U.S. Army 363rd Infantry in World War II.

Arthur Carlson, 75, Clear Lake, formerly of Stanhope, died Dec. 11, 1994 at Muse-Norris Hospice in Mason City. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Foster Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Hedegaard officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Hill Cemetery, southeast of Stanhope. Military rites will be given by American Legion Post 191. Visitation is after 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 9 a.m. Thursday until time of service.

Arthur Carlson, son of Carl and Anna (Anderson) Carlson, was born Oct. 27, 1917 on a farm near Stanhope. He attended rural schools in Stanhope. He served with the U.S. Army 363rd Infantry during World War II. Following his discharge, he farmed for several years near Stanhope. In 1974, he moved to Clear Lake, where he worked for Keith’s Sanitation for six years.

He is survived by sister, Edith Overturf of Rock Falls, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Leonard, Carl and Oscar; and sisters, Anna Peterson, Agnes McFarland, Hilda Olson, Gertrude Anderson, Meta Raner, Ollie Smith, Alice Malm.
