William Reichard “Billy” Campbell was born Oct. 28, 1916 to Welden S. and Sarah Adelaide Reichard Campbell. He died Sept. 8, 1944 and is buried in Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion, IA.
Sgt. Campbell served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps and died in Hollandia, New Guinea as a result of malaria. He was awarded the Air Medal with Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Medal, the Southwest Pacific theatre ribbon, American theatre ribbon and Presidential Citation.
