Robert L. Burnett was born Sept. 8, 1923 to Roy C. and Mary E. McCormick Burnett. He died Apr. 28, 1945 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines and has a cenotaph in Bethesda Cemetery, Fairfield, IA.
Lt. Burnett served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 501st Bomber Squadron, 345th Bomber Group, Medium and was KIA in the Southwest Pacific area. He was awarded the Air Medal and Purple Heart.
