Charles Frederick Bowers was born Aug. 6, 1906 to Fred and Louisa Rixarde Bowers. He died Oct. 20, 1943 and is buried in Old Pioneer Cemetery, Idaho City, Idaho. He is memorialized at the Courts of the Missing, Court 7, Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Hawaii.
Lt. Bowers served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps Headquarters Squadron, Seventh Air Force and was MIA when the airplane he was on board disappeared 90 miles north of Palmyra Island while enroute to Funafuti Island.
