Merle La Vaghn Beck was born Aug. 3, 1924 to Maurice Lewis and Murna Burkhead Beck. He died July 14, 1945 and is memorialized at the Courts of the Missing, Court 5, Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Hawaii.
Petty Officer Beck served with the U.S. Navy in World War II aboard the USS Bonefish (SS-223) and was MIA/FOD/KIA when that vessel was sunk by depth charge attack on Toyama Bay, Japan.
