Given Medal
Pfc. Robert D. Brown of this city was presented a purple heart award last week at the U. S. naval hospital, Great Lakes, Ill., for wounds received while the marine was fighting on Iwo Jima. He entered the marine corps Dec. 1, 1943, and served ten months at sea or overseas. Capt. Frederick Ceres made the presentation of the purple heart according to an official dispatch from the Ninth naval district headquarters.
