Franklin M. Brown was born Oct. 30. 1919 to Michael and Anna Mary Kies Brown. He died Jan. 6, 1945 and is memorialized in Saint Athanasius Cemetery, Jesup, IA. He is also listed on the Tablets of the Missing at Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Hawaii.
Sgt. Brown served with the U.S. Army Air Corps 768th Bomber Squadron, 462nd Bomber Group, Very Heavy in World War II and was MIA/KIA/FOD. An enemy plane made a strike on the B-29 bomber in which Brown was a crew member/aerial gunner. He served in the India/China/Burma theater and was awarded the Air Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Distinguished Flying Cross and Purple Heart.
