Ralph Arthur Britson was born Nov. 20, 1919 to Arthur and Helga Kvalem Britson. He died Feb. 22, 1998 and is buried in Roland Cemetery, Roland, IA.
Capt. Britson served in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps 4th Marine Division in the Marshall Islands, Saipan, Tinian and Iwo Jima campaigns. He was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with four stars Purple Heart, Bronze Star with the Combat “V” clasp, Presidential Unit Citation with two stars, American Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
