Robert William Bringolf was born Dec. 22, 1917 to Alva R. and Mabel A. Ritchie Bringolf. He died Jan. 7, 2002 and is buried in Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, IA.
Robert served with the U.S. Navy in World War II aboard the USS Maryland at Alaska, Australia and Hawaii.

ROBERT W. BRINGOLF, 84, Webster City, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002 at the Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Travis Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post # 191. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and at the church prior to the service. Mrs. Bringolf will be present from 7-8 p.m.
Robert William Bringolf, son of A.R. “Dike” and Mabel Ritchie Bringolf, was born Dec. 22, 1917 at Webster City. He received his education at Webster City schools, graduating in 1937. From Jan. 1939 to Jan. 1942, he served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Maryland at Alaska, Australia and Hawaii. On Oct. 5, 1946, he married Martha Claire Loughry at Webster City. The couple resided in Webster City. He was employed for 32 years with the Webster City Post Office as custodian, retiring in 1976. They enjoyed traveling during their retirement. They also found much enjoyment from their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Bringolf is survived by his wife, Martha; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael & Karmon Bringolf, Cedar Rapids, Robert & JoAnn Bringolf, Newton, Thomas & Renae Bringolf, Rapid City, S.C.; grandchildren, Julie Pavek, Janet Mcay, Jess & Robert Bringolf, Marjorie Bittner and Christine Forck; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Donna Bringolf, Des Moines; brother, Ray Bringolf, Webster City; step-mother, Elva Bringolf of Webster City.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Raymond Bringolf (WWII).
He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, American Legion Post #191, Disabled American Veterans, Webster City Senior Citizens Club, and a former member of The Webster City Elks Lodge.
Memorials may be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
