Cpl. Brackett Given Purple Heart Award
Cpl. Donald L. Brackett, son of Mrs. Annette Brackett of this city, has been awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in action in Germany during December. The Webster City serviceman suffered an arm wound which is not believed to be serious.
Corporal Brackett, who is with the engineering corps, has been overseas since September and has been located in France, Holland and Germany.

Donald Leon Brackett was born Sept. 23, 1921 to Walter Sidney and Annette Nadine ‘Nettie’ Surby Brackett. He died Oct. 21, 2009 and is buried in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Van Meter, IA.
