Gerald LaVerne Boyer was born Feb. 1, 1926 to Melvin Austin and Helen Miller Boyer. He died Dec. 24, 1944 and is memorialized at the tablets of the Missing, Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France and at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Fayette County, IA.
Pvt. Boyer served in World War II with the U.S. Army Co. L, 262nd Infantry Division, 66th Division and was KIA in the English Channel. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
