News About Men in Service From Over Northeast Iowa
Sumner—Douglas Blume, son of Charles Blume of Sumner, has been in the Army three years and spent 27 months overseas, having been with the first soldiers to land in Ireland. He was with the 34th Division in the African invasion, in administrative work. Before entering the Army, Douglas was employed at the Adams store in Waterloo as bookkeeper. He will report at Fort Sheridan, Ill., after Sunday.

Douglas Charles Blume was born Feb. 12, 1918 to Charles Edwin and Edith Grace Adams Blume. He died Jan. 22, 2006 and is buried in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo, IA.
