Russell Harvey Black was born Sept. 26, 1921 to Glen Oscar and Ethel Ina Harris Black. He died Nov. 15, 1986 and is buried in Orting Cemetery, Orting, WA.
Petty Officer Black served with the U.S. Navy in World War II. He also served with the U.S. Air Force in Korea.

Russell Black was born Sept. 26, 1921, the son of Glen and Ethel Black. He graduated f rom Webster City High School in 1940 and entered the Navy. Later, he entered the Air Force where he served until his retirement.
Survivors are a daughter Lorinda Koenig of Tacoma, Wash., and a son, Ralph of South Prairie, Wash.; one granddaughter; sisters Betty (Mrs. Francis) Gregory of Webster City, Mary Brownfield of Hawthorne, Calif., Peggy Enger of Waterloo, Joan Shafer of Tavares, Fla., Dora Thompson of Cedar Rapids, Billy Black of Cucamonga, Calif. and Ruth Black of California.
