Guilford Newton Black was born Aug. 20, 1918 to Roy Almon and Flora Mae Miller Black. He died Sept. 23, 1943 and is buried in Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, England.
Lt. Black served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 551st Bomber Squadron, 385th Bomber Group, Heavy and was KIA in the European area. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters.
