Orlo Bibler, 76, Stanhope, died Sept. 30, 1996, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Foster Funeral Home, with Rev. Charles E. West officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery. Graveside military services will be conducted by American Legion Post No. 191. Visitation will be at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today until the time of service.
Orlo Oscar Bibler, son of Dawson and Essy Lagergren Bibler, was born Dec. 23, 1919, in Stanhope, He graduated from Stanhope High School in 1937 and started farming with his father. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army-Infantry in the European Theater. On Dec. 27, 1945, he married Ellen Cloud in Fort Dodge. The couple farmed northeast of Stanhope. He retired from farming in 1985. He had also been in insurance sales from 1957 with Mutual Fire and Auto.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen; sons and daughter-in-law, Dean and Bettie Jane Bibler, Granger, A. David Bibler, Algona; daughter, Kathleen Porrez, Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Eric, Emily and Heidi Bibler, Kelly Dwight and Martin Porrez Jr.; great-granddaughter, Alexia Carter; brother, Stanley Bibler, Webster City; sisters, Verda Johnson, Fountain, Colo., Telva Frederick, Stanhope; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one great-granddaughter.
Mr. Bibler was a member of the Stanhope Parish, American Legion, and the Stanhope Commercial Club.
