Russell & Jean Berryhill Wedding Picture

**Just a little ‘personal’ info FYI on this couple, which the Contributor found quite interesting and definitely wanted to share.

One of the daughters said that her Dad contracted tuberculosis while serving aboard a submarine and was in treatment at Mt. Sinai in NYC where he met their mother, Jean Eva Dell, who was a lab technician there but also contracted the disease and was in treatment simultaneously with him. She was over-treated with antibiotics, which destroyed her inner ear and sense of balance. Their wedding picture is so sweet as he holds her gently by her shoulders from behind. In reality, she could not sit up at their wedding and he had to hold her in place. Jean and Russell’s courtship had been encouraged by Red Cross workers at the hospital. Messages were forwarded from one floor to another so when both were discharged, they were married.
