Leonard L. Benson was born May 8, 1918 to John Ludwig and Blanche Sadie Benson. He died Apr. 30, 1963 and is buried in Homewood Cemetery, Ellsworth, IA.
Sgt. Benson served with the U.S. Army in World War II with Co. L, 133rd Infantry, 34th Div.; Co. F, 264th Infantry, 66th Div.; and with the A.G. Publication Depot.

Benson Services Set At Ellsworth
Ellsworth—Burial services will be held Friday at 3:15 p.m. at the Homewood cemetery for Leonard L. Benson, 44, of Ankeny, former Ellsworth resident.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Hamilton-Lilly funeral home in Des Moines at 15th and High St.
Mr. Benson died suddenly at his home in Ankeny at 9:15 a.m., his death being attributed to a heart attack.
Born at Iowa Falls, he resided in Ellsworth as a youth and attended schools here. He had lived in Ankeny for the past 17 years and was engaged in the plumbing business.
Mr. Benson was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church and belonged to the Baldwin-Patterson American Legion post in Des Moines.
Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Blanche Benson of Ankeny; his four sisters, Mrs. Ben Read of Whittier, Calif., Mrs. George DeMoss, Ankeny, Mrs. Frank Holland, Decorah and Mrs. Richard Hornburg, Ankeny, and four brothers, John and Frank Benson, both of Ankeny, and Richard and Myron Benson, both of Des Moines.
