MEN and WOMEN IN SERVICE
Raymond P. Balkema, stationed at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, has been promoted from Captain to Major, according to a war department dispatch. A graduate of Iowa University, Maj. Balkema was an internal revenue agent in Sioux City for 19 years before entering the service. Enlisting in June 1941, he is a finance department officer. His wife and two children live at 3212 Garretson Avenue.
