Raymond Russell Baker was born Dec. 22, 1917 to James and Rachel Hein Baker. He July 9, 1987 and is buried in Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, IA.

Raymond served with the U.S. Army in World War II.

Funeral services for Raymond R. Baker, 69, will be held Monday, July 13 at 3 p.m. at the Foster Funeral Home with Rev. Raymond R. Roden officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery with graveside flag-folding services by American Legion Post 191.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. Saturday until the time of the service.

He died Thursday, July 9 at the Hamilton County Hospital where he had been a patient 6 months.

Raymond Russel Baker, son of James and Rachel Hein Baker, was born Dec. 23, 1917, near Blairsburg. He was educated at Rantoul, Ill. The family later returned to Iowa and he finished school at Woodleaf School, rural Webster City.

He married Maxine Hanson on Nov. 11, 1944 at Webster City. The couple resided here where he was employed as a tool grinder for 22 years at Beam Manufacturing Co., now Webster City Products. He was also employed at Arrow Acme for several years.

In 1956, the couple purchased a farm in Cass Township where they lived until 1968, when they returned to Webster City. He continued farming until 1976, when his eyesight failed. The couple then continued to reside in Webster City.

Survivors are his wife, three brothers and one sister, John of Kamrar, Jimmy and Glen of Webster City, and Hazel (Mrs. Claude) Bealmear of Tucson, Arz.

He was preceded in death by his parents one sister and one brother.

Mr. Baker was baptized in the Lutheran faith and was a 40 year member of American Legion Post 191.
