Frank Melvin Auten was born Mar. 7, 1919 to Frank McLellan and Ida Belle Critchett Auten. He died Oct. 13, 1944 and is buried in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO and is memorialized in Slagel Cemetery, Newton, IA.
Sgt. Auten served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps and was MIA/KIA/FOD over Austria while serving his country. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
