Sherman Benjamin Arnold, Jr. was born Dec. 3, 1925 to Sherman Benjamin (Sr.) and Wilma Alice Smith Arnold. He died Feb. 13, 2008 and is buried in Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Van Meter, IA.
Sgt. Arnold served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 43rd Bomb Group as a tail gunner on a B-17 Flying Fortress. He was awarded the Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters.
