Joel M. Arneson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jonas Arneson of Roland, graduated from Roland High School in 1936. He entered the army in May, 1941, and served with the 34th Division in Africa and Italy. He received the Purple Heart as a result of wounds while serving in Italy.
