Lt. (j. g.) Wilford E. Anderson Awarded Air Medal by U. S. Navy
During a recent inspection of the Service Test Unit, at the Naval Air Station, Patuxent River, Md., Captain A. P. Storrs, U. S. N., commanding officer, awarded air medals to three officers. Among them was Lieut. (j. g.) Wilford E. Anderson whose citation reads as follows:
“While serving as navigator of a patrol bomber, when his plane sighted an enemy submarine on the surface, he coolly and efficiently assisted the pilot maneuvering the plane into position for attack and calmly remaining at his post keeping pilot constantly advised of their exact position. His action contributed materially to the delivery of a successful bombing and strafing attack which resulted in the serious crippling and ultimate sinking of the submarine by combined action of air and surface units.”
Lieutenant Anderson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. N. M. Anderson of Randall.

Wilford Elmer Anderson was born Oct. 11, 1923 to Neil Morris ‘Morris’ and Clara Thorsbakken Anderson.
Wilford served with the U.S. Navy in World War II.
