MANLY GI DIES IN TRAIN WRECK
Pfc. Stanley Anderson Loses Life in Belgium
Manly -- Mr. and Mrs. Pete Anderson of Manly received word of the death of their son, Stanley Anderson, who had service with the armed forces in France and Germany since the invasion of Normandy. His wife, Mrs. LaVonne Anderson, is employed in the Lockheed plant at Los Angeles, Cal.
The telegram to her reads as follows: "The Secretary of War desires to express his deep regrets that your husband, Pfc. Stanley Anderson, died in Belgium April 21, 1945, as the result of a train accident. Confirming letter follows. Signed Ulio, adjutant general"

North Iowa Vet to Be Reburied
Manly -- Reburial services for Pfc. Stanley William Anderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Anderson of Manly, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Anderson funeral home at Lake Mills. Burial will be at Lake Mills. Service will be private.
Pfc. Anderson entered the military service March 3, 1942, was assigned to the field artillery band and played for many months with the band along the west coast.
He spent 16 months overseas and on April 20, 1945, met his death at Liege, Belgium, in a train accident while serving his country.
He was married to LaVonne Thompson of Northwoods in 1939. Her home is at Los Angeles and she is flying to Lake Mills to attend the funeral. The body will arrive at Lake Mills Thursday.
