Robert W. Anderson, son of Mrs. W. J. Anderson, 3711 Seventh Street, recently was commissioned a second lieutenant after completing an officer candidate course at the infantry school at Fort Benning, Georgia. He entered the army August 25, 1942. Lieut. Anderson is a graduate of East High School and the University of Nebraska.

OFFICER KILLED IN ITALY ACTION
Lieut. R. W. Anderson, East Graduate, Is Casualty
First Lieut. Robert W. Anderson, 29, son of Mrs. W. J. Anderson, 3711 Seventh avenue, was killed in action in Italy September 17, according to word received Monday from the war department by his wife, Mrs. Pauline Anderson.
Survivors besides his mother and the widow, are a 2-year-old daughter, Janice, and two brothers, Lieut, (j.g.) William in the submarine service and Walter, a navy V-5 student at Dubuque, la.
In 1932 Lieut. Anderson was graduated from East high school, where he was active in football and track. He attended the University of Nebraska, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration in 1938. He was a city salesman for Swift & Co. in Sioux City. He was a member of Morningside Presbyterian church, and Sigma Nu fraternity at Nebraska university. On August 8, 1942, he entered the army and took officers training at Fort Benning, Ga.
He was overseas about three months.

Robert Wilson Anderson was born Jan. 2, 1915 to Walter J. and Alice Mattie Wilson Anderson. He died Sept. 17, 1944.
1st Lt. Anderson served in World War II with the U.S. Army 91st Division, 363rd Company and was KIA in Italy.
