SGT. ANDERSON OF STRATFORD KILLED JAN. 3

Stratford—Word has been received here by relatives that Sgt. Leonard V. Anderson, son of Mrs. Luther Anderson, was killed in France Jan. 3.

Sergeant Anderson was attached to an infantry unit and had been overseas since February. No further details were given in a war department message received by his wife now residing in Des Moines.

The Stratford soldier, who was 30 years old, was a graduate of Stratford high school. Besides his wife and two daughters, he is survived by his mother, one brother, and four sisters, Ernest Anderson and Eunice of Stratford; Mrs. Floyd Bergeson of Des Moines, Mrs. Herbert Larson of Long Beach, Cal., and Mrs. Arnold Larson of Stratford.

Leonard V. Anderson was born July 2, 1914 to David and Bessie Bergland Anderson. He died Jan. 3, 1945 and is buried at the Lorraine American Cemetery, St. Avold (Moselle), France - Plot: D Row: 15 Grave: 18

Leonard served with the 141st Infantry Regiment, 36th Infantry Division. He was killed in action in Belgium and awarded the Purple Heart.
