Leland D. "Lee" Anderson, 84, of Waterloo, died Friday, October 29 at ManorCare Health Services of a short illness.
He was born November 17, 1925 in Gowrie, son of Carl R. and Lola Gorman Anderson. He married Dorothy Krause on November 21, 1956 in Waterloo. She died June 11, 1994.
He graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1944. He was a welder in various shops in Waterloo, retiring from Wayne Engineering in 1991. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War 2. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Waterloo American Legion, and he volunteered at Cedar Valley Hospice.
Survived by two sons, Michael D. (Yvonne) Anderson of Waterloo, and Tony (Terri) Anderson of Waterloo; and three grandchildren, Christopher, Tara, and Abby.
Preceded in death by one sister, Norma Thompson.
Services 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church, Waterloo, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Military rites by Waterloo American Legion Post 138, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1623, and the Iowa Army national Guard. Public visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday at Locke Funeral Home.
