Lt. E. Dean Anderson

 

 

IOWA HONOR ROLL

These Iowans, like the many carried here in previous Honor Roll listings, have given their lives for their country. Each one was either killed in actual combat or died in prison camp. The fourth line beneath each photograph indicates the war area in which the Iowan was serving. Additional pictures will be carried on future Sundays.

Elmer Dean Anderson was born Nov. 15, 1911 to Elmer Nathaniel and Elsie T. Anderson. He died Feb. 18, 1942 and was lost at sea. He has a cenotaph in Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak, IA.

Lt. Anderson served with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Astoria, USS Truxton, USS Philadelphia, USS Wyoming and USS Williams. He was lost at sea off the Newfoundland Coast.
