Wayne Soren Andersen was born Aug. 27, 1925 to Soren Christian and Myrtle E. Esbensen Andersen. He died Apr. 21, 1945 and is buried in Glendale Cemetery, Des Moines, IA. He was initially buried in 6th Marine Division Cemetery, Okinawa and returned to the U.S. in 1948.
Pvt. Andersen served in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps 22nd Marines, 6th Marine Division and participated in combat operations in Okinawa until he was KIA.
