John Frederick Alff was born May 26, 1913 to Maria Alff and was raised as a son to Herman Emil and Amelia Katharine Brockman Alff. He died Nov. 12, 1942 and is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, North Africa American Cemetery, Tunis, Tunisia and has a cenotaph in Evergreen Cemetery, Anita, IA.
Pvt. Alff served in World War II with the U.S. Army 436th Coast Artillery Battalion and was MIA/FOD aboard a vessel which was sunk in the harbor at Fedala, French Morocco.
