John served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He was stationed in Pearl Harbor during WWII.

John Ades, 71, Eagle Grove, died Friday, Oct. 17, 1997, at the Rotary Ann Care Center in Eagle Grove. Mr. Ades’ body was cremated and his ashes will be scattered at a later date in California. There will be no services.
John Marion Ades, son of Roy and Florence (Stevens) Ades, was born Oct. 8, 1926 at Webster City. He attended Webster City school. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He married Nola Williams and the couple resided in Fresno, Calif., where he operated a window tinting business. They were later divorced. In 1966 he married Frances Keran, they resided in Oakhurst, Calif. He owned and operated a nursery, retiring 1991. In September of 1966, he moved to Goldfield and resided with his son. He had been a resident at Rotary Ann Care Center since August of this year.
He is survived by his wife; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Kathy Ades, Goldfield, Jack Ades, Eagle Grove, John and Sandi Ades, Panama City, Panama and Michael Ades, Oakhurst, Calif.; daughter, Dawn Davis, Eagle Grove; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Bob Ades, Boone, Velma Long, Webster City, Richard Ades, Cherokee, Arthur Ades, Mason City and Carl Ades, Clear Lake; uncle Sam Ades, Webster City; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Donald Ades; grandson, Nicholas Koob; and his parents.
