20 Men Accepted For Service From Sioux Co.
Following is the list of Sioux County men who have been accepted for military service. This list is not entirely complete, however, as returns are not yet in on all the men who went to Omaha Sun. for their examinations. If there are others who are accepted in this group, their names will be published next week.
June calls light
The June calls are light as compared with those in the early part of the year. There will, however be several married men included in the next calls, among them business men from town, who expect to leave next month.

Eugene Achterhof arrived at the parental Ralph Achterhof home on Sunday evening and will spend a weeks furlough with them. Gene is in the V-12 program of the navy and has just taken his examinations at Hartford, Conn.

Eugene Achterhof who is in the navy and who is attending Trinity College at Hartford, Conn. arrived at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Achterhof last Saturday evening to spend a short leave with family and friends. He will leave again on Sunday afternoon and reports back at his base on the 1st of Nov.

Eugene J. Achterhof A/S, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Achterhof of Sioux Center has moved from Hartford, Conn. to Notre Dame, Indiana and has this new address: U.S.N.R. Midshipmen's School, Section No. 1, Notre Dame, Indiana.

GRADUATES FROM MIDSHIPMANS SCHOOL
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Achterhof arrived home Tuesday from South Bend, Indiana, where they attended the graduation of their son Gene who graduated from the Notre Dame Midshipmans School there on Monday. P.H.M 3/c and Mrs. Floyd Achterhof of Chicago accompanied their parents to South Bend, and Gene came home with his parents to spend a 15-day leave, after which he will report at New York for advanced orders.
Eugene James Achterhof, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Achterhof, was graduated from the U. S. Naval Reserve Midshipmen's School on Monday, July 19, 1945 at 11 A. M. in the Navy Drill Hall on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. He was one of approximately 730 men graduated as Ensigns, USNR, after having successfully completed four months training as midshipmen.

Ensign Eugene Achterhof is home on a ten day leave at present preparatory to leaving the states. With him is his fiancée Miss Shirley Nicholson whose home is in Connecticut. Gene will leave Saturday for the West Coast where he expects to embark shortly from San Francisco for sea duty.

Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Achterhof and family and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Achterhof drove to Rock Valley last Thursday evening where a family gathering was held at the parental Ralph Achterhof home in honor of their son Eugene who arrived home after three years of service in the navy.
