Howard Joseph Abbott was born May 21, 1910 to Frank M. and Mildred Walkington Abbott. He died June 20, 1941 (at sea) and has a cenotaph in Maple Hill Cemetery, Osceola, IA.
Lt. Abbott served in World War II with the U.S. Navy and served as Commanding Officer of Submarine O-9 (SS-70) which sank approximately 15 miles off Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
