Ralph Zeigler Appointed Highest Cadet Position
At Air Corps Center
MAXWELL FIELD, Ala., May 14 – Aviation Cadet Ralph W. Zeigler, 24, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Zeigler, Spirit Lake, has been appointed cadet first captain – highest cadet position at the Air Corps Replacement Training Center at Maxwell Field, Ala.
In his new position, Cadet Zeigler will command the entire organization of cadets at the huge replacement center. After completing his pre-flight military and academic training here, he will go to a primary flight school to learn how to pilot Uncle Sam’s fighter planes.
Cadet Zeigler has served nearly a year in the Army at Camp Claiborne, La., and Ft. Dix, N. J., before being appointed an Aviation Cadet last January.
He attended Iowa State College, Ames, Iowa.

Ralph William Zeigler was born Mar. 30, 1918 to Arthur Gordon and Martha Christine Martinson Zeigler. He died Mar. 8, 2003 and is buried in Riverside Cemetery, Marshalltown, IA.
