Robert L. Young, 2933 Washington Avenue, is one of four Sioux City naval aviation cadets who have reported to Peru State Teachers college at Peru, Nebraska, for eight weeks training at the civil aeronautics authority war training school. Others there are Thomas H. Blood, 112 Kansas Street; Keith A. Cole, 2701 Dodge Avenue and Robert N. Lahann, 859 15th Street.

Robert Lyle Young, son of Mr. and Mrs. O.E Young, 2933, Washington Avenue, was commissioned an ensign in the naval reserve and designated naval aviator at exercises at Corpus Christi, Texas, naval air training center.

Former East High Pupil Killed When Plane Falls
Ensign Robert Lyle Young, U.S.N.R., died as a result of a plane crash at sea February 11 and his body was not recovered according to a telegram received Saturday by the Navy department by his wife at 218 10th street.
Ensign Young was born June 18, 1924, and attended East high school. He received his commission August 5, 1944, too operational training at Melbourne, Fla., and was sent overseas last January. Since then he was stationed in the South Pacific.
Survivors besides his wife, include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Young, 2933 Washington avenue; two brothers James and John and two sisters, Irene and Winogene. A brother, Orin Young, was killed in a crash of an Army trainer in May, 1944.

Ensign Robert Lyle Young, former East high school pupile and son of Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Young, 2933 Washington avenue, died as a result of a plane crash in the South Pacific, February 11. His wife is the former Dorothy Baker, 218 10th street.

Robert Lyle Young was born June 18, 1924 to Oren and Rose Virginia Edwards Young. He died Feb. 11, 1945 and is memorialized at the Courts of the Missing, Court 2, Honolulu, Hawaii.
