IN UNIFORM
Sgt. Leo VanWaart, 1216 S. Linn street, is a member of the 109th medical battalion with the Fifth army in Italy. This battalion is credited with having evacuated 50,000 wounded American infantrymen from the battlefields of Tunisia and Italy, and with many other heroic exploits. The original personnel was drawn from the Iowa national guard.
