Completes Paratrooper Training in Japan With 11th Airborne Division
Pfc. Raymond Sweet, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl W. Sweet, 103 Carolina S.E., has written home from the 11th airborne division stationed with the occupation forces at Sendea, Honshu, Japan, that he has finished his training that qualifies him as a paratrooper and has received his wings, boots and diploma.
Pfc. Sweet went overseas last September after completing his basic training at Camp Livingston, La.
He was graduated from the Mason City High School in 1944 and was attending junior college at the time of his induction into the Army in March a year ago.
