Akron, Iowa – Sergeant James R. Sweeney, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas H. Sweeney of Akron, has returned to Camp Crowder, Missouri, after spending a 10-day furlough with his parents. Sergeant Sweeney entered the service last December 12.

James Robert Sweeney was born Oct. 15, 1922 to Thomas Henry and Mary Ann McCullough Sweeney. He died Jan. 18, 2007 and is buried in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Johnson Township, Plymouth County, IA.
