Sheldon, IA.—Harold and Howard Struyk of Sheldon, formerly members of Company I, Sheldon National Guard unit, are members of the United States Fifth Army under the command of Gen. Mark W. Clark. The Struyk twins and Sergeant Norbert Rowenhorst of Sheldon have been together since leaving Sheldon in February, 1941.

Sheldon, Iowa – Sergeant Harold Struyk of Sheldon, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Struyk, has been awarded the Purple Heart for wounds suffered in action in Italy. He has also been awarded two other medals, one for participation in the European war theater and the other for the north African campaign.

Harold John Struyk was born Aug. 28, 1920 to William and Tena Reekers Struyk. He died Apr. 1 3, 2014 and is buried in Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery, Mission, TX. Sgt. Struyk served with the U.S. Army in World War II.
