CHESTER [Howard Co.] – Lieut. Vernon L. Stintizi returned Tuesday to Pendleton, Ore., after spending a week at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Stintizi.

Vernon Lake “Bud” Stintzi was born Mar. 16, 1915 to Forest John Valentine and Ruth Lake Stintzi. He died July 24. 2012 and is buried in Chester Hill Cemetery, Chester, IA.
Col. Stintzi served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II. He was awarded the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star and Purple Heart. (Note the surname spelled differently in the above newspaper article.)
