Pvt. Joseph A. Spieker left Thursday to return to his post at Camp Polk, Shreveport, La., after spending a nine-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Spieker.

Joseph Aloysius Spieker was born Jan. 30, 1917 to Joseph and Mary Paulsen Spieker. He died Jan. 16, 1957 and is buried in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carroll, IA.
Joseph served in World War II with the U.S. Army 931st Signal Battalion.
