Pvt. Darrel E. Solomon

 

Pvt. Darrel E. Solomon, member of a family well known in southwest Plymouth county, was killed in action on Mindanao on May 22, according to a War Department message sent his wife, Mrs. Louise M. Solomon, Rte. 1, Jefferson, S.D., whom he married March 26, 1945. He entered the service November 17, 1944, trained at Camp Hood, Texas, and arrived overseas only two weeks before he was killed. He is survived by his wife, his parents Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Solomon, two brothers and one sister living near Jefferson and a sister in California.

Darrel Eugene Solomon was born Apr. 8, 1926 to John Herman and Elma Rebecca Craft Solomon. He died May 22, 1945 and was buried (Feb. 24, 1949) in Logan Park Cemetery, Sioux City, IA. 

Pvt. Solomon served with the U.S. Army 21st Infantry in World War II.
